Creon is a rather weak man who has been placed into a position of authority and is incapable of handling the position well. After ten days, they are very close to Ithica.
There are, however, not perfect and sometimes make poor decisions. A hero is clever, respectful, brave, and shows mercy. The other Cyclopes then say, 'Well if nobody is causing you harm then you must be fine,' and they then walk off and go back to there business.
Odysseus makes bad decisions which affect his leadership skills overall. In the Odyssey, Odysseus is the main character. Odysseus fought in the Trojan War and, after the Greeks claimed their victory at Troy, began his prolonged journey home.
At other times it seems to be lost in the shadows of his adventures. His only fault is his hubris, but that is overcome and taken care of. In the case of Odysseus and Polyphemus, the consequence is that when Odysseus is on a ship heading home to reach Ithaca, Poseidon, being the father of Polyphemus, sends a storm at Odysseus being angry that Odysseus blinded his son.
He then reveals his real name to Polyphemus, letting him know who blinded him.
